Haunting your Kitchen!

Hi all!  This is s SUPER SIMPLE PROJECT!!!  I saw this advertised somewhere, I have no idea where.  I saw it last year and decided to make one for myself.  I love this blood spill cutting mat!  I bought a pack of mats at the store for just a couple of dollars and cut it out.  I love it!

I also got the idea of wrapping Halloween themed wide ribbon around my canisters in the kitchen to jazz them up a bit.  I just cut them to fit and used binder clips behind them to keep them on.  I think I may have to do this for Christmas too!

Have a spooky day!

Haunted Desk

I have an amazing roll top desk that my BFF Jackie gave me.  For Halloween I "haunt" it!  A lot of the stuff I have recently purchased, but some of it I have had for a long time.  It is ever evolving.

One of the "props" is an old old old pair of glasses, a ledger book, and some other cool items.  I felt it needed a pocket watch.  So,  made one.

I gathered supplies from my stash.  I had the chain and the latch.  The skull I have no idea where it came from.  The watch is by Tim Holtz, and the clock face is actually a Jolee's sticker.  It turned out awesome!

Here is my desk.  I have books on the top that light up.  I made some "spell books" out of blank books.  In the fake typewriter I added photos by Tim Holtz that are halloween themed.  I even have a raven and a rat!

How do you decorate for Halloween?

Have a great day!

Happy October, Everyone!

Hi all!  How have you been? I hope everyone in blog land is doing well.  I have been ill for a while so I apologize for the delay in posting.  I haven't even felt like crafting much.   But, I am going to attempt to get my "stuff" together and post some great projects.

These first projects are actually from last year, but I have some new ones to show you as well!  I wanted to create a sort of future/fortune telling display on my coffee table so I went to the craft room and started creating.

I wanted a sort of Ouija board, but not a real one.  (Yes, I am scared of the real ones!)  So I got a tray from 7 Gypsies and made my own with Halloween stickers from my stash. The stickers were from the Carta Bella, "All Hallows Eve" collection.

After I put the stickers on it, I cut a piece of acetate to cover them.  I could use this as a serving tray if I wanted to.
I added handles from Graphic 45.  It turned out super cool!
I wanted a Voodoo Doll but ended up with this.  It's a "Dammit Doll".  If you get upset you are supposed to grab it's legs and hit an object and say "Dammit."  I didn't use it for that!

I got some toothpicks and some skull beads, glued them together for "pins" and put them in the doll.  Taa daa, I have a "Voodoo doll".
Here is my coffee table setup.  I have my Magic 8 Ball, my doll, my "Ouija" board, some tarot cards, and a cool Halloween crystal ball.  It turned out cool!

I hope you like it and I hope it give you a little Halloween inspiration.

Have a great day!

Bee Bath

OK, I know it's a little late in the season for this post, but I wanted to show you the Bee Bath that I made.  The coolest part is that IT REALLY DOES WORK!
I had a pot that I wasn't using, so I filled it in the middle with rocks and around the edge with blue marbles.  I added the palm tree and the mermaid because I thought it was cute.
Bees need to drink water too, but it can be hard for them. They need a place to sit while they dip into the water.  They can drown easily, apparently. You fill the water only so far so that they have places to land.  This bee appeared the very day I made this!!!  They love it!

It's not much, but I'm trying to do my part for all of the critters.

Have a lovely day!

Tea "Book Box"

I bought a big box of all sorts of assorted teas.  The box it all came in was MAGNIFICENT!  I knew that I could make it into something cool...here is what I did.
The cover of the "book" was cut out.  I trimmed the middle circle to make it flush.  Then I measured, cut some chipboard, put it into the open spaces and taped them in.  Now the cover is solid!
Here is a view of the cover once I filled it in.
I had been to Tuesday Morning and picked up some of these beauties!  I found several tubes of crafting papers.  This turned out to be the perfect project!  I covered the front and the back of the box.  I also added papers to the spine of the box.
I got into my stash and found perfect embellishments to decorate the cover.
Here is a picture of the spine.
I covered the inside cover and added a cute butterfly to the bottom of the box.  The other amazing thing about this box is that it had a magnetic closure...YAY!

I hope you like this recycling project.  It is going to make for some beautiful organization and storage.

Stay organized...and don't forget to repurpose and recycle!

I Remember When" 12x12 Layout

I was just going through my stash of scraps and decided that I needed to try to make a layout with what I had leftover from this bunch of goodness.  I ended up framing it and hanging it because I love it so much.  The picture is my husband, oldest son, and our first grandchild (our daughters son).  I love this picture because it shows 3 generations of men in our family, and all three of them have the same middle name, taken from my husbands father.  Tradition!  The title came from one of the cutouts and it fit perfectly, since that baby is almost 9 years old now!
I started by looking at the supplies I had available.  It wasn't much.  This is from a line by Cosmo Cricket called Circa 1934.  I love this line!
I came up with this layout.  I had to piece-meal it together because I didn't even have a full paper.  But by layering I was able to create a full 12x12 size background!  Shhhhh, don't tell anyone!
 Here is the finished project.
I layered chipboard pieces to create clusters.
I also had to add bling to the project!
I soooooo love how it turned out.  It is just amazing what you can do with scraps!

Have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!!!

"Memories" File Folder Album, Part 3

Welcome to the last post on my "Memories" File Folder Album!!!  This post is going to show you how it looks all decorated up!  I love how it turned out, and I hope you do too.  There are a lot of pictures...and at the bottom of the post I will show you embellishments I made with scraps and leftovers.

I used my We R Memory Keepers tab punch to create the photo mats.  The horizontal ones started out as card stock measuring 6 1/4" x 5", and the vertical ones were 7" x 4 1/4".  I made the tops of the tabs by punching paper into tabs just a little smaller.  Super easy!
I just added photo mats, created embellishment clusters and added them to the book, I tucked cards and tags in pockets.

The pockets of the folders are perfect for larger photo opportunities.
I made file folder shaped inserts for these pockets, and embellished them with scraps that I had left over.

This was FUN FUN FUN to decorate.  Some of the embellishments are only attached on one side so I can slip in other pictures, like in the above picture with the frame on the pocket.
 So much fun stuff!

I was totally into making cluster embellishments.  With all of the goodies that I collected from all of these collections, I had a ton to work with.

I created some of the tags from leftover card stock.

I created a file folder pocket here.
 Large decorated tag...
This is the back of the album.  So much fun stuff.

This is a picture of some of the embellishments used on these pages.
Here are some more.  I also utilized my collection of punches.
I had this left over from the packaging of some of the stuff I used...
...This is what I made with them!  Always keep scraps...you never know what you can come up with!

I hope you enjoyed this series.  I know I did!

Here is a list of the supplies other than the Basic Grey collection that I used:

Other papers:  Card stock by Coredination's
Patterned papers by Crate Paper, "Portrait", "DIY Shop", and "Emma's Shoppe"
                        Tags:  Bo Bunny

Journaling cards by Lilly Bee
Distress Ink by Tim Holtz
Twine by Little B

Have a crafty Day!!!

"Moments" File Folder Album, Part 2

Welcome to part 2 of my Moments album.  I wanted to show you the "bare bones" of the album.  Next week I'll show you pictures of it all embellished!
I did a standard chipboard cover for the album.  It is large!  There are a ton of places to put things!
I used an old line of products by Basic Grey..."Fact and Fiction", "Clippings", "Capture", "Hey You", and "Hello".  I tried to use just these products exclusively.
The cover on the left and the first folder on the right.
I covered the file folders completely, cutting around the tabs and natural finger pull spots on the folders.
On the right it shows the long pocket made with the first folder to attach it to the second.
This album was fun to put together.  As you can see, I also used distress ink on everything as well.

These are the pages I created just by adding paper to the folder flaps...
...and the last piece that I left as a pocket.

 Here are pages made...
And the last piece that was flipped to the back of the last file folder.

I sure hope this makes sense!  It was a lot of just sitting there and experimenting.  I didn't really plan this out, it just happened.  I love it.

Next time we get to see it all decorated!
